Message from the President

ISCP was formed to bring together, and freely share, the science of coloproctology across every country where it's practised. Different regions see different disease patterns, so surgeons who specialise in a particular condition in their own country carry experience the rest of the world can learn from — and one shared global platform is where that exchange happens.

Any general surgeon or postgraduate physician with an interest in coloproctology is welcome to join. India alone has some 55,000 practising general surgeons, and a large share of them already work in this space in some form — every patient among them deserves a treatment that is painless and quick to recover from.

ISCP's goals are practical: hands-on training, sound theoretical grounding, and a proficiency fellowship certificate for surgeons in countries where such courses don't yet exist — delivered through workshops, an annual Worldcon, and regular CMEs at district and taluka level, alongside free treatment for those who cannot afford it and public education on these conditions. As the Society puts it: coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success.

Message from the Secretary

In its early years, ISCP has already closed the gap between scattered regional efforts and a connected national community — built through steady leadership and the continued participation of fellow members from every part of the country. In a short span, the Society has earned its identity by insisting on hands-on workshop training first, followed by grounded theoretical understanding in coloproctology.

Four workshops in the first five years reached and benefited a good number of fellows, and the Executive Committee remains focused on spreading that scientific knowledge and serving the community at an affordable cost — with recovery times that respect both patients' and surgeons' time.

Each year now brings a planned CME and half-day workshop in different parts of the country, a three-day fellowship workshop with the ISCP Fellowship examination, and the annual Worldcon — alongside ongoing work to establish proctology fellowships at designated centres abroad. Suggestions from members on how to grow and improve are always welcome.
